Trends and Technologies Conference 2015
On 12 November 2015, the second edition of the Trends and Technologies Conference, organized by the Department of Technical Studies, took place at the University of Polytechnic Jihlava. As in the case of the first year, it was not a purely scientific conference, but this did not detract from its interest, and perhaps quite the contrary -- as the name suggests, the main pillar of the conference were the contributions of experts from practice, presenting current topics and trends in the fields of information systems and management, enterprise IT, software development, industrial automation, sensors and robotics, signal and image processing, electronic device development and CAD/CAE/CAM/PLM. Since we believe that this way of obtaining interesting and valuable information "first hand" may be of particular interest to our students, the selection of topics for the conference was closely related to the technical disciplines accredited at the Polytechnic University, i.e. the electrical engineering-oriented Computer Systems, software-oriented Applied Informatics and the newly accredited Applied Technology for Industrial Practice. For the practitioners, the conference was an opportunity to present interesting issues from their work to the students of our bachelor's degree courses and to support their interest in the field, in technology in general and, last but not least, in the company. One of our students' study requirements is to complete a twelve-week internship; perhaps an interesting paper heard at the Trends and Technologies conference will decide where they apply for an internship.
