Professional activities for the application sphere

Applied and Basic Research Topics of the Department of Technical Studies

  • Experimental mechanical testing and characterization of materials - metals and plastics, strength and ductility of materials, fatigue and creep of engineering materials 
  • 3D printing technologies - FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling), SLA (Stereolithography) and SLS (Selective Laser Sintering)
  • technical calculations by finite element method (SW ABAQUS, COMSOL Multi-Physics)
  • mechanics of body systems (SW ADAMS)
  • design of mechanical systems from smart materials (sensors, exciters, energy harvesting, actuators)
  • motion activity of people, objects and bodies, ergonomics of manufacturing processes
  • acoustic measurements, use of the Multimedia Recording and Experimental Studio
  • electrical measurement, electromagnetic compatibility
  • development and design of mechatronic units
  • image and signal processing
  • design of sensors for electrical and non-electrical quantities
  • technical measurements
  • design activities for the design of machinery and production units 

 

In the field of computer science, we offer the following knowledge and services:

  • use of artificial intelligence and machine learning methods
  • software and application design
  • courses in cybersecurity and penetration testing
 

The staff of the Department of Technical Studies of the University of Applied Sciences collaborate with industrial partners and jointly carry out contract research and development. We cooperate with the following partners on an ongoing basis:

In addition, the staff of the Department of Technical Studies offers services in software development, data processing, cybersecurity, training in user software, multimedia and video editing software, training in the use of CAD systems and the finite element method for engineering calculations, as well as in the use of artificial intelligence and signal and image processing. All of the activities can be implemented in the form of training courses or summer schools.

Members of the Department of Technical Studies at the University of Applied Sciences collaborate with various companies on a wide range of projects. The following projects have been or are being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education, MIT, GAČR and TAČR:

  •     Jihlavan, a.s. - Increasing reliability and durability of linear electromechanical actuators for aerospace applications (2016-2018)
  •     Jihlavan, a.s. - Development and optimization of an electromechanical strut for controlling aircraft control surfaces to increase durability and reliability in maintenance-free operation (2017-2019)
  •     Jihlavan, a.s. - Development of wheels and brakes for landing gears of small and medium aircraft (2018- 2020)
  •     Mega a.s. - Development of innovative components of electromembrane modules using additive technologies (2020-2022)
  •     VŠPJ - Czech-German cross-border critical infrastructures, design of shared situational awareness (2019-2022)
  •     Jihlavan, a.s. - Development and optimization of electromechanical strut for control surfaces of aircraft to increase durability and reliability in maintenance-free operation (2017-2019)
  •     VM ENGINEERING s.r.o. - Concept of predictive control, based on neural networks, of equipment (heat pump) utilization in relation to changing electricity price during the day, heat demand (or outdoor temperature), efficiency (COP) of the heat pump (2017 - 30.6.2018)
  •     MEDIN, a.s., PATROL group s.r.o., Ensuring the safety of innovative implants using computational FEM analyses (2017 - 2017)
  •     Design and fabrication of a prototype radio transmitter tester (2016)

We provide the following expert and support services to small and medium-sized enterprises, paid for from the funds of the OP Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Competitiveness of the MIT of the Czech Republic. List of implemented innovation vouchers:
